OVERLAND – Lighting Service, Inc. is a family company, locally owned and operated in the St. Louis area since 1946. As strong believers in giving back to the community, Jeff and George Irwin are proud to be involved in helping a wonderful organization like Operation Food Search.

“Our motto is one of helping others.” Said Irwin. “And Operation Food Search has done so much for others, it’s time someone gave something back to this organization.” As members of the Operation Food Search Golf Committee, Lighting Service representatives noticed that their facility was due for an update.

After performing a thorough analysis of the facility, Lighting Service presented  recommendations that provide better light at the work surface, which increased productivity and safety, in addition to providing lower monthly utility bills.  

“Our lighting system is 200% better than it used to be,” noted Schaefer, director of OFS. “And the project practically paid for itself through savings and the rebate.”

Operation Food Search was like a lot of local companies, in that they had old, energy inefficient lighting fixtures, which waste about 50% of the energy being paid for each month.

Since Lighting Service has updated the technology at Operation Food Search, they are seeing better light distribution at the work surface, which has increased worker productivity in addition to creating a safer work environment. Additionally, they have seen a 50% decrease in their monthly lighting bill due to the upgraded technology which uses a fraction of the energy the old fixtures were using.
